UVI Receives $26,000 from Jack and Jill Foundation to Assist Spring 2026 Graduating Seniors with Unmet Financial Needs

By Dr. Safiya George, President of UVI

I am pleased to share that the University of the Virgin Islands has applied for and received a grant for $26,000 from the Jack and Jill of America Foundation to support our students as they approach one of the most important milestones of their academic journey…graduation.

The Foundation’s College GAP Fund is designated to assist Spring 2026 graduating seniors who are facing unmet financial need. This investment reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent our students from crossing the finish line and earning their degrees.

While the need amongst our students continues to exceed available resources, this support provides critical relief at a pivotal moment. The University will thoughtfully allocate these funds to students with the most urgent financial gaps, helping to remove last-mile obstacles that can delay or derail completion.

This partnership is a powerful reminder that student success extends beyond the classroom. It requires a collective commitment, from institutions, partners, and communities, to ensure that every student has a clear and supported pathway to completion. We are grateful to the Jack and Jill Foundation for their confidence in UVI and their continued investment in the success and future of our students.

“This grant proposal was prepared by Andrea Moore and secured approximately $26,000 to support UVI students struggling to pay outstanding tuition debts required to advance their academic and graduation aspirations,” said Provost Dr. Lora Bailey.

As part of this collaboration, we also look forward to sharing the stories behind this impact, highlighting the resilience and determination of our students and the transformational role that partnerships like this make possible.

This is Grand Momentum in action, removing barriers, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that our students not only start strong, but finish strong.
