A Warm Welcome to the UVI Family Goes out to Andrea Moore

Andrea Norvice Moore serves as Special Assistant to the President of the University of the Virgin Islands. Born on Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and raised in Columbia, Maryland, Andrea brings a unique blend of federal leadership, philanthropic impact, and global perspective to her work in higher education.

She most recently supported the Acting Commissioner of the Social Security

Administration, providing executive-level coordination, national employee engagement strategies, and special project oversight. Andrea is the Immediate Past President of the Pearl Foundation, Inc., which works in partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Iota Lambda Omega Chapter of Columbia in Howard County, Maryland. Under her leadership, the Foundation expanded scholarship giving, youth development programs, and regional community collaborations.

Andrea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts from American University and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Walden University. She was honored with American University’s 2025 MLK Visionary Leadership Award for her enduring service, advocacy, and leadership. A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Andrea was initiated through the Lambda Zeta Chapter at American University and is an active member of Iota Lambda Omega Chapter, where she received the 2021 Nellie Quander Leadership Award for the North Atlantic Region.

Andrea is also a proud member of the American University Alumni Board, where she serves as a connector and advocate for the next generation of AU Eagles.

Having lived nearly 20 years in Italy, Andrea’s professional journey includes international experience in media, fashion, and hospitality—shaping her inclusive, culturally fluent leadership style.

Outside of her professional work, Andrea is enjoying the rhythms of island life with her husband Gerard, and their daughter Aliah. Together they will bring purpose to their new chapter at UVI.
